If you're going to purchase a book on logic games for the LSAT, this is the one to purchase. It's much easier to understand than Manhattan and has better strategies. You'll get a good foundation of the basics of logic games. However, I've found whenI took the actual LSAT, the games are much more advanced. So my best suggestion is to devour the information in this book as best as you can, then take a practice exam using actual LSAT exams (Preptests), then practice, practice, practice some more. Do not rely solely on this book to help you pass the logic games section. You will do yourself a disservice if you use this book as a stand alone, without continuous practice using actual LSAT exams. You can purchase 10 New Actual, Official LSAT PrepTests exams on Amazon. Try to take a minimum of 20 preptests before your actual exam date.

The Powerscore series - it is the best way to go, these guys got it right and know what they are doing. This book is informative and very helpful and I am using all three as a trilogy. Reading, Logic, and Games... Prior to buy these books I paid an independent teacher offering an in person course, with online videos and materials for around a grand offering mainly teaching and not much reading materials. These books are much better!! It is independent study but I learn better reading books, combined books with teaching it enhances learning so it could work out for you to get the course taught by Powerscore as wellI do not have the Training Collection or the Workbooks which could prove useful or could be a waste of money? I do however have all the past test previously administer from LSAC which you should buy first along with the trilogy before buying the subsequent training materials from Powerscore. But all three of these books are easy to follow and read. I have not started taking simulated practice tests yet because I am not to take point in my training schedule so I am not sure what range of point increase I will be in, I will update this with my increase in a few months.

This is one of my favorite LSAT books that I have read, and I read more than 8. I actually think that I learned more from this LSAT book than I did with any of my LSAT Classes. It tells you how to chart out each type of logic game, and the charts are extremely helpful to improving your scar. My score went up by like 10 points after I learned the tactics from this book.

After reading the PowerScore Logic Games Bible, I improved from a -4 to a perfect 0 between the June and November 2018 LSAT exams. Overall, I improved from a 163 to a 168 which enabled me to receive a full merit scholarship at my target school. What I loved about the Logic Games Bible is the granularity and meticulousness of PowerScore’s approach – breaking down lessons into smaller sub-lessons that are then each able to be digested and applied on the real test. The book is especially good at categorizing the distinct types and approaches for each game, so that when you face similar games on the real test, you will have a solid methodology for attacking it. The book is incredibly comprehensive (and heavy), including everything from frameworks for making inferences such as looking for numerical distributions to limit boards to a shorthand notation language of abstract symbols for capturing the greatest number of possibilities or templates. There are even unique game types that you can draw upon on test day.In addition to doing the problems in the book, purchase LSAC’s practice tests and take diagnostics. Then refer to the PowerScore online forums for answer explanations.Good Luck!!!!!

After reading online about different study tools, this one and the actual LSAT tests seemed to be the most popular and helpful. I have to say that, while the actual tests are a must have, this provided much more insight on how to prove test taking time and accuracy for the Analytical Reasoning section.I recommend taking a few full practice tests first, allowing you to see the progress that this book helps you make. It's gotten my practice test scores up from the high 160s to the mid 170s, almost always getting a perfect score on the Analytical Reasoning section.

PowerScore provides a comprehensive system designed to help you attack the logic games section of the LSAT. However, reading this book is not sufficient to excel at logic games. Rather, after reading this book, students should take the skills they should learn and apply them (over and over again) to LSAC approved and non-approved logic games so you are proficient at using the tools the Logic Games Bible teaches when siting for the LSAT.

This was a good resource that really let me get a handle on what the test makers were looking for when they were designing questions. You do get a different perspective than if you were to just take the tests on your own. I didn't use any other products to study for the test except for the PowerScore books (and actual tests), so I can't comment on it's effectiveness compared to other methods. I do believe that I wouldn't have scored as high had I not read the set of PowerScore books. The practice tests were by far the most helpful part of my LSAT prep. There was no substitute for practicing on real tests, where you can time yourself, practice the endurance of a complete test, etc. If you are serious about getting a good score on the LSAT, you are going to need to take at least 20 of these bad boys. Definitely focus on the latest tests for the best idea of what to expect on your test day.

Walt Longmire is strong but fallible, a man whose devil-may-care stoicism masks a heightened sensitivity to the horrors he's witnessed." —Los Angeles Times"Johnson's trademarks [are] great characters, witty banter, serious sleuthing, and a love of Wyoming bigger than a stack of derelict cars." —The Boston Globe"The characters talk straight from the hip and the Wyoming landscape is its own kind of eloquence." —The New York Times"[Walt Longmire] is an easy man to like. . . . Johnson evokes the rugged landscape with reverential prose, lending a heady atmosphere to his story." —The Philadelphia Inquirer"Stepping into Walt's world is like slipping on a favorite pair of slippers, and it's where those slippers lead that provides a thrill. Johnson pens a series that should become a 'must' read, so curl up, get comfortable, and enjoy the ride." —The Denver Post "Johnson's pacing is tight and his dialogue snaps." —Entertainment Weekly

I don't normally write reviews but feel I should in this instance. I gave this book 5 stars but feel the need to qualify that rating. This is not the fast pace of a Dan Brown thriller. But it is very well written, with a good plot, great characters, and an unexpected twist at the end. If you have not seen the Netflix Longmire series based on these books then I suggest you watch at least one or two if possible before reading this book. My wife and I have been watching Longmire for a long time before reading this book and that is why I felt the need to give it 5 stars. Not only did I already have a connection to many of the characters I especially felt a connection to Henry Standing Bear played by Lou Diamond Phillips. Every time I read one of his lines in the book I could not help but hear Lou Diamond Phillips and also visualize his interaction with the Longmire character. My wife and I are both from the mid-west and have lived in several mid-western states including Colorado. So we have spent some time in Wyoming as well, the setting for these books. Craig Johnson's colorful descriptions make it easy for us to envision just what his characters are seeing. I think you will find this book an enjoyable read...

To be honest I've been able to get only about 1/3 of the way through the book. The number of characters is extensive and I have a hard time remembering how each of them fits into the story; troubling since I have seen all of the Longmire episodes on television. The narrative form of the book makes it difficult for me to follow some of the conversations and with the story being told through Walt Longmire's eyes, it's hard to know what the other characters are seeing. I like the descriptions of the area and I understand the underlying mystery but this is a hard book for me to follow.

THE COLD DISH is the first in the LONGMIRE series. It's quite a bit different than the TV series.First off, Walt is kind of a goofball, and Vic tolerates him more than respects him. That's probably not the case, but she calls him names like fat****. That would ordinarily get you fired in most sheriff's offices.Henry is also bigger and seems to be a very good shot with a Sharp's rifle, the murder weapon in Walt's most recent case. Somebody is shooting four boys who were tried for raping Henry's niece, Melissa Little Bird. They were found guilty, but the judge gave them limited sentences in juvenile facilities.Whoever is killing the boys is shooting them at a very long distance, 500 yards. Walt could make that shot, as could Henry, and Melissa's father. Lonnie, who's missing his legs, and Omar, a Buffalo Bill like character who's an expert on the Sharp's rifle. In the middle of the book there's a kind of surprise. Walt is reflecting on his life—he's met a woman, Vonnie, who seems very interested in a relationship. Then there's the surprise. Martha, Walt's deceased wife, didn't really love him. Walt stuck it out because of his daughter, who is now a lawyer who doesn't call her father often enough. I don't remember hearing that in the TV series. Vic is also enduring an unhappy marriage, and she cares about Walt more than she lets on.There are some interesting minor characters: Lucian, the old sheriff, is living in a senior citizen's home. Walt plays chess with him once a week. In this book, Walt hires Lucian as a dispatcher for two days a week. He's an old-time western sheriff who sort of made his own rules as a case progressed, but Walt respects him and leans on him for advice. Turk is Lucian's nephew, an announced candidate for sheriff after Walt retires. Walt wants Vic to take his place.THE COLD DISH is just another instance of the book being better than the TV show. Walt has a sense of humor in the book. He also has a great deal of respect for Native American spirituality. There's a scene where Henry is wounded and Walt has to carry him back to safety in the middle of a blizzard. He almost freezes to death. He hears bells and sees ghostlike Cheyenne Indians who lead him out of danger, left with frost bitten ears and hands. You might want to read this section twice. I had no idea what was going on. Somewhere in there Vic was also coming to his aid.You won't be able to guess who killed those boys. But I'll give you a hint: remember the old adage, “It's always the one you least expect.”

I admit that this series probably never would have made it on my reading radar if I hadn’t first watched the series on TV. I also have to admit that I never would have considered watching the series if a group of people I follow on line hadn’t talked about NF picking up the series after A&E network dropped it. The fact that I immediately searched out the Walt Longmire series by Craig Johnson after I ran out of episodes to watch should tell you something. ;) I’m going to mention the similarities and differences between the two later in the review, don’t worry.Walt Longmire is not your average literary hero… well, actually, he is average. He’s handsome in a rugged way. He’s over 50 and he’s described more than once as being out of shape. He’s been mourning the loss of his wife long enough in his friends’ opinion, which reinforces the fact that he’s surrounded by people who care about him as much as he cares about them. He’s honest, loyal, well educated, has a strong sense of honor… basically he’s one of the most ‘real’ characters I’ve read in a long time. One of my favorite parts of reading this book was his inner dialogue. I loved it. His thoughts are easy and honest and yes, he tends to ramble, but that keeps it entertaining. The Cold Dish takes Walt back to a case that has haunted him for a couple of years. Sometimes justice isn’t exactly fair and the punishment comes no where near fitting the crime. That was how most people felt about the boys involved in the rape case. That fact made finding a likely suspect in the death of one of the defendants almost impossible to narrow down. There were a lot of people who could have decided to become a vigilante and not blink an eye. That also meant that Walt probably knew the killer, which made his job even harder. With the help of his best friend Henry and his staff he goes about the task of finding the killer before the next boy is killed. The story has lots of twists and turns and seems to take them a couple of steps back with every new clue they find. I can honestly say that I had no clue who the killer was until it was revealed. It might have been because I was so caught up in the story, but I think it had more to do with the writing being so good.Beyond the good story there was a lot of witty dialogue. There are a lot of conversations between Henry and Walt. Some serious, some comical. This one was one of my favorites… I looked past Henry in disbelief as he turned to hand me the rifle. “If you do not shoot him, I will.” “We don’t have any bullets, or I would seriously consider it.” He laughed and pulled a gleaming .45-70 from his shirt pocket and held it up. “Where did you get that?” “Off your desk, where do you think?” I pulled the handle and opened my door. “We’re trying to keep somebody from shooting him.” He stated out the other side. “I am beginning to question the logic in that.”Which brings me to my comparison between the books and the TV series. Honestly, I love them both. There are characters that are in both. Some are similar and some have been changed slightly to fit the TV series. The descriptions of the characters aren't quite the same in some instances, but that didn't bother me at all. I will admit that even though I liked Craig Johnson's descriptions, I found myself picturing the TV characters in my head as I read the book. What can I say, I was introduced to them first. :) One thing that bothers me in reading written dialogue on a regular basis is the lack of contractions. It just seems so formal in normal conversation to not use them. In a strange way Henry's lack of contraction use made me smile. Not only did Walt mention the fact but that's exactly how the character on the TV series talks as well. There's also a strong spiritual aspect that I enjoy in both the book and the TV series. Sometimes familiarity is a good thing. As far as the story line goes, at least for the first book, you may think you know how the story's going to pan out if you've watched the series, but the book takes a totally different slant, which I enjoyed. It kept me on my toes and it allows me to watch and read and not have either outcome spoiled. It's the little things really. ;)So, my obvious advice to those of you who have either watched or read about Walt Longmire, treat yourself to both. I don’t watch a lot of TV, but when I find a show I like, I have no problem telling people about it. Reading the book is a no brainer. I can’t wait to pick up the rest of the series.

If you have seen the NFL Network's series, "A Football Life", you may have seen the 90-min special they did on Bill Walsh. The video documentary is EXCELLENT, and paints a compelling story of this fascinating and brilliant man. This book, in progress at the time of his death, was finished by his son with the help of Steve Jamison. Several of Walsh's players and friends add their own insights in this book, which add to the interest.Like all of Walsh's work, it's more a series of short essays, collected and sorted into manageable categories. They are based on the speeches he gave after retiring from coaching. Now, as a management system I don't think he says anything that Steven Covey and others haven't said. But if you have ever wondered if the guy was really as good as his fans claim, or why the Niners were the 2015 laughing stock of the NFL, all you need to do is read this book to understand:1) Yes, he really was as brilliant as his fans claim2) Yes, his burnout was inevitable; he cared too passionately, too intensely about perfection3) No, nobody in the current Niner organization even comes within ten Levi Stadiums' distance of Walsh' football expertise and management skills.Reading this, you understand that coaches like Mike Holmgren and Bill Belicheck are the real Walsh fans. And how success breeds success, but also the never-ceasing, crushing pressure that accompanies it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all football fans.

Great insights into the ideas that took Bill Walsh to the pinnacle of the coaching profession and the stressors that wore him down. The "Score Takes Care of Itself" relates to Walsh's "Standard of Performance" and the idea that if you have a consistently high quality process that you will produce a high quality product. You will always be in the base camp, close to the summit: As a coach, this book will help you build the assembly line. The quality car (and football team) will follow:Bill Walsh on the Standard of Performance:* Culture precedes positive results. It doesn't get tacked on as an afterthought on the way to the victory stand. Champions behave like champions before they are champions.* The exceptional assembly line comes before the quality car - strive to make your assembly line better and better.* All we can do is increase the probability of success. Do it by intelligently and relentlessly seeking solutions that will increase your chances of prevailing in a competitive environment. When you do that, the score will take care of itself.* Teach players to hate mistakes in games and practice - if you aim for perfection and miss, you're still pretty good...if you aim for mediocrity...* "Organizational excellence evolves from the perfection of details relevant to performance and production."* "I know what is required for us to win. I will show you what it is."* "There are winners and there are people who would like to be winners but just don't know how to do it."

If Bill Walsh is right - namely, that NFL football is the intellectual equivalent of business (in organizing and managing a group of individuals to achieve difficult goals in an extremely competitive world) - then this is a book worth picking up for anyone interested in business leadership. Walsh, not unlike Buffett, Munger, and Klarman, knows that there is no ultimate formula for success. In his words, "a resolute and resourceful leader understands that there are a multitude of means to increase the probability of success. And that's all comes down to, namely, intelligently and relentlessly seeks solutions that will increase your chance of prevailing in a competitive environment." You won't go wrong adding this one to your collection.

Yea. This is great. Short and simple re-emphasis of many great leadership techniques such as: do what needs to be done, don't let toxic people stick around, reserve praise for praiseworthy results, FUNDAMENTALS PEOPLE, and hiring the right people to manage their unit.

Wow, what a great book. I don't know how I came across this book as I don't watch football and have never heard of Bill Walsh but I'm happy I did. His leadership approach to football is straightforward and applicable to a variety of professions. If I could summarize his philosophy it would be that success is the result of attention to detail, every minute detail. What you read about in this book is a man who poured his heart and soul into what he loved to do. This isn't some fluffy do x,y,z and you'll get there type of book. This is about showing the insane dedication, work, and sacrifice it takes to excel at what you do. What also stood out for me was the brutal self-honesty of his own shortcomings which is refreshing to read in a profession with many big egos.I recommend this to anyone looking to improve upon their approach to work and/or life.

That's the reason I love reading books from people who fought the battles themselves. Great lessons of how to build a great organization. As well as lessons of human nature. Warning of what happens when you have a boss: you eventually get disrespected or replaced. Great man with very human emotions we can all relate to and learn from. Highly recommend!

I love this book! As a huge football fan, I have though for years that football strategy, team culture, and playing the game itself has a correlation to both business and war. This book self proclaimed "philosophy of Leadership" is all about how to rally the troops in business and in life. There is no wonder why Bill Walsh was highly regarded for his business acumen. Bill very much understood how to tackle any tough situation and convince those around him to follow through and persevere until they accomplished their goals. This is a must read for any business owner, manager, or anybody who enjoys what really goes on in the office of an NFL head coach. I bought one for my business partner who doesn't even like football and he enjoyed it as well
