Bien-Aime delivers once again with her vivid and authentic storytelling that started with Negus. I'm looking forward to the next installment of the series. Great job!

I love Lisa Chamberlain's way of writing and the way she approaches Wicca or Witchcraft. It is easy and fluid. She explains without coming off like a banshee. Some Wiccan authors are a bit heavy and can seem that way but Lisa approach is soft and smooth. She explains things is a easy to understand way and you get what she is saying. Practical ways to work with Wicca and you feel you are part of it.

Well written for beginners and easy to follow. Simple tips, spells and references to get started. Focus is primarily wicca but eclectic and adaptable for solitary practice. There are quite a few typos but no big deal. Great set overall that covers the basics of wicca belief.

I ordered this set of 3 books, but was never able to access them since I later learned they are Kindle items, only. I think the set of 3 actual books cost more, but maybe not much. Someone said $10 or so. Still think they are in the Kindle section. Would be nice if someone could find where the books went to and send them out. I must reiterate: These are the actual books.....NOT Kindle. Thanks ever so for your help.

In 2000 Lydia left a successful career in Orlando, Florida to explore the world with her young family. Moving abroad, she and her husband renovated old homes and built a villa rental business in the South of France--Only Provence.   During their six years outside the US, Lydia traveled extensively to areas lacking access to education and opportunity. Motivated by the simple ideal that small personal actions can make a difference, she and her family returned to the US in 2007 and launched GoPhilanthropic Travel-- a tour company engaging travelers with lesser-known humanitarians driving change in their communities. She and a passionate team expanded their efforts by founding GoPhilanthropic Foundation, a non-profit organization helping empower small grassroots organizations to stand on their own. GoPhilanthropic Foundation has made a significant impact, encouraging active engagement of donors in solving critical issues relating to women's and children's education and empowerment.   Lydia currently resides in Provence, France with her husband, and divides her time between the US, France and Asia.

I heard about this book through the author's friend, when I read what it was about, I was excited to read it. I quickly read it and thoroughly enjoyed the journey of Lydia and her family. I can fully relate to the author's story and inner struggle and since I'm currently figuring out my own adventure, it was great fun to travel this journey through the family.It's a great story about how when we remove ourselves from what everyone else expects from us, that we are able to deeply understand what we want for ourselves and the world around us.I just hope I can give my own son some of these same adventures.

Lydia's story is compelling because she took a leap of faith to do something she felt called to do. She's bored by the comfort of status quo and has the courage to follow her heart, even when she doesn't always know where that will lead. But Lydia is adventurous, rises to challenges, and now has a meaningful impact on many lives. She has figured out how to partner with communities in need, which, in my view, is the most effective way to effect change. Great story about a very impressive woman and the path she created for herself.

Just what I needed at a moment when I felt I was at a crossroads in my life. Lydia’s courage to continue to seek and grow and her passion to help build a better life for those in need as encouraged me to take a leap of faith.

I just returned from seeing first hand the Go Philanthropic sponsored programs in SE Asia. As part of a staff-lead trip, six of us experienced the three different cultures of Cambodia, Laos and Viet Nam; yet all three countries have the common thread of promoting education as the path to each country's economic development. Kudos to Lydia Dean for helping so many children in these countries realize the dream of an education by supporting local people and programs. Her book reinforced for me that when individuals follow their passions and gut feelings, the results can be far-reaching and universally positive.

This well-written memoir follows Lydia's journey from an unhappy upscale life (a typical successful life in the suburbs) to a life of fulfillment and helping others (in the slums of India and other countries). I enjoyed following Lydia's life story and was impressed with her honesty and willingness and guts to take risks that led her to make her life's passion a reality. A thought provoking story that will lead you to question, discover and take action to make your passions, however small or big, come true.

Genuine. Sincere. Courageous. Raw. Inspirational. Brings one back to thinking about the essence of life.....following your heart, dreams, and gut even if it's outside of "traditional norms." Lydia's courage to continue to help others never ceases and in the end she helps remind readers that to truly live one's life to the fullest can sometimes mean getting out of traditional "comfort zones." Allowing oneself to do this is how one truly lives.

A real page turner and easy read. Very inspiring how young wife and mother can accomplish so much by following her dream to make a difference in the world. Courageous and determined with support from her husband she moves to Costa Rica, to France, back to the states, and travels all over the world. She often travels alone witnessing extreme poverty, The story of her journey is a warm family story and I hated to reach the last page. I wanted to read more but admit I am impressed that in all of her accomplishments she found the time to document and write such a moving, fantastic story.

The Rule of St. Benedict was obviously written to provide guidelines for the early Benedictine monastic communities. Jane Tomaine’s book is what it says it is: a toolbox containing the essential tools for everyday Benedictine Living. She has opened up an ancient document and faithfully converted it into guidelines for contemporary living.As a Benedictine Oblate, I have been committed myself to reading extensively books pertaining to Benedictine spirituality. I believe that Jane’s book is one of the most unique in that it provides a practical handbook of invaluable resources for both men and women who are drawn to the Benedictine way of living.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a systematic introduction to what Benedictine living is and as a guide to support the traveler on the spiritual journey.

The first edition of this book was one that I found endlessly enriching and helpful in my spiritual growth. I have been part of several groups that have studied it and used the tools; the book always provoked discussion and sharing. In this tenth anniversary edition, I particularly appreciate the historical background on monasticism and the addtional tools. The new chapter on "Community, Relationship, and Being a Benedictine Presence" is one that I will make extensieve use of in an organization in which I am involved. It's a good guide to making the culture of an organization more Christ-like.

This is a helpful, hands-on introduction to the Rule of Benedict. It would be well suited to a facilitated group setting or class. Application exercises are included for each chapter from which the facilitator can choose those best suited to the group. What it lacks in depth it more than compensates for in practicality. The section on the Daily Office and Benedictine prayer are good introductory content for Christians from non-liturgical traditions

I was looking for assistance in my spiritual journey and this is very helpful. This is written for Episcopalians but I think it would be helpful for Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans and mainline type churches.

Jane's reflections and interpretations of St. Benedict's rule are words to live by. It is one of those books that I will read over and over as I try to embed Benedict's teachings in my life and value system. By the way, my Golden Retriever, Ben, is named for St. Benedict. Reminds me every time he brings me an errant shoe.

This book gives us ways to live out St. Benedict’s Rule in our workaday lives. Some of the suggested tools don’t resonate with me, but there are enough tools that there are always alternatives. The bulk of each chapter, before the tools are introduced, is most helpful.

I was so looking forward to this book. Unfortunately when O opened it to begin, O discovered the print was so small that I am unable to read it. If you have vision issues please not the size of the type is very small. It came highly recommended so I'm fairly certain the content is good. Choosing a Kindle version may help

Good explication of history of St. Benedict and his rules, and extensive treatment of their application in our conteporary chaotic times.

Cyndi writes a book that is a must read for anyone seeking to make the world a place of true freedom - where everyone can be who they want to be and has what they need to thrive. Her contribution is taking a lot of complex black liberation teaching and behavioral economics theory and distilling it to easy to understand ideas that are accessible and actionable so we can collectively dismantle systems of oppression and co-create a world that works for all of us.

My mind is spinning - so many new ways to look at the world's power structures. Fascinating and useful.

Older, white, male, overeducated, working with wealthy people and their advisors on their philanthropy, I read Suarez with admiration and respect for her synthesis of so many far ranging traditions, including feminism, desconstruction, and theories of play and drama. I felt challenged but also included as a fellow human in the quest for equality and mutual respect. The master and submissive or slave define each other, as Hegel noted. Entire states, companies, and economies are built from these hierarchies of mastery and subordination. Suarez helps us all liberate ourselves from Hegel’s Master/slave dynamic. We get to wait for Godot like Vladimir and Estragon, rather than like Pozzo and unfortunate Lucky. Sad it would be if we turn things upside down and nothing change other than who hold the whip hand and who carries bags of sand in a circle.

This book is a masterful dissection of how power is shaped and structured in modern Western society to dominate and suppress peoples' natural drive towards freedom. Suarez helps us see how people are made to believe themselves powerless, and thus how we become unwitting servants to domination by the elite. She offers us exercises and reflections that can help us reorient ourselves to how power flows, and even offers games that we can play that help us "see" power more clearly. Highly recommend!
