Stunning account of a 25 year period in London, Ontario, Canada, where Serial Killing of Women and Children was statistically, if not "normal", at least so frequent as to be largely ignored by local police departments. The unceasing flood of such crimes did not get the attention of law enforcement above the 'detective' level so that adequate resources were provided to try to slow down and / or stop this 25 year 'crime wave'. It was all just "swept under the rug" for the sake of budgets, preserving the "reputation" of the area, and other forms of not-so-benign neglect. Technology didn't give detectives much help at that point and neither did their "management". The advent of DNA testing and computer databases made detection and correlation of evidence nearly inevitable, at least relative to the period in question. The onslaught finally came to a (relative) end, if there is any level of such activity that can be considered "normal". Not a moment too soon....

I've not read a true crime book this compelling since Ann Rule's The Stranger Beside Me or Robert Ressler's Whoever Fights Monsters. Scholarly and fact-based, beat-cop turned criminologist Michael Arntfield tightly tells the story of the generic, unnoteworthy town of London, Ontario which through the decades became to be know as Canada's serial killer capital. The similarities to Kim Rossmo's work - the Vancouver police officer whose ground breaking work in geographic profiling eventually lead to the arrest of Robert Pickton for the murders of allegedly up to 49 downtown Vancouver east side murders - is uncanny, and should not be overlooked. Arntfield points to continued criminal investigative failures in Canadian law enforcement calling into question fundamentals of police investigation, and mis-uses of current technologies such as ViCLAS (Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System) and CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). A must read.

VERY INFORMATIVE. It was a good read for me since I live in London and was raised in the surrounding area. I also knew one of the families in the book which was the main reason I wanted to read this book. The book is well researched and well written. I didn’t give it five stars due to the portion of the book with so much data that it was difficult to read on a kindle device.

The things these people where subjected to are just sad. But we must remember that without technology, the only tools left are common sense.

Great job. This was a "ripping good yarn" that was true. As a London lawyer called in 85 and who married the little girl who lived next to Frankie I connected to every morbid paragraph. I'm retroactively frightened for my kids who began life in 83. I will lose sleep.

Wow - very interesting to learn about my City! Pretty scary too when you think the stories are true!

This was such a well written, thoroughly researched book about serial killers in Canada. Very worthy read for true crime fans, as well as people interested in socialogy.

Although it was an interesting true crime story, sometimes the flow was a bit broken and tended to be dry at times.

Beautiful anthology. It consists of 10 stories that average around 20 pages each. I really like the longer form of these stories! While the other Smut Peddler series books are also really nice, I feel some scenarios suffer from a lack of page count for character or relationship development. The stories in this book manage to give the worlds the characters live in some presence as well! It's a comforting and sweet read, no gratuitous violence or non-consent issues.6 of 10 of the stories are f/m, 4 of 10 are m/m. All quality art and story, well paced, and the dialogue isn't embarrassing or unnatural amongst so many different writer's styles and characters.

More of a 4.5 for me. I suppose I preferred the other smut peddler anthologies, since they had a wider mix of pairings... but I can’t fault a book called “my monster boyfriend” for not having any F/F pairings. Over all, it’s well written and has some lovely art. Jess fink’s story is my favorite, but several other ones are also great. Worth purchasing. I had to return my first copy because it had a few loose pages when it arrived, but it was quickly replaced by amazon.

Was a relatively good read, and the stories and level of diversity were good. However I found most of the authors/artists definition of "monster" rather boring and vanilla. All but one or two of said creatures are just a plain human with some horns, wings, or weird skin color. Most of the art as well is lacking fine detail and a bit of substance in the hot and heavy scenes. Not a bad book but probably not really a top recommendation to friends.

It's hard finding quality queer smut, but My Monster Boyfriend is a nice resource for getting your stash started. There are cisgender characters, transgender characters, a variety of body types, vulva owners and penis owners, monsters and humans, in an exciting mix of hot, sweet (sometimes hilarious) smut.

10 fantastic, beautifully-written and gorgeously-illustrated adult stories about monster boyfriends! This anthology should have something for every monster lover: 6 female/male pairings, 4 male/male pairings, a bit of trans representation, comedy, tragedy, and tons of sensual fun. I've loved every story and compilation published by Smut Peddler thus far, and My Monster Boyfriend is no exception!

The pictures are beautiful and the stories are decent... but it's mostly guy on guy situations and only 2 stories with women. I have nothing against guy on guy but I'm a girl, and kindof was hoping this would be about girls with monster guys :/

I purchased this book and a convention and let it be said that I absolutely love it! I'm not use to reading anthologies that don't jar me out of it due to the change in artist. But this one does justice to the anthology world by nailing it on this technique perfectly. It has story and characters that are quickly both loveable and relatable. It is mostly yaoi though, if you aren't into that this might not be the book for you. I repeat YAOI IS MOSTLY WHAT THIS BOOK CONSISTS OF.

I picked this up at a convention, and I ADORE it. All of the stories were fantastically drawn with some really lovely storywork. Erotic and innovative, I would love five more anthologies just like this, please! ;)

Say to them, "Go to Dr Alice's book,check out page 65 on MCTs, or page 118 for FNAs and then call me if youneed further help"... (say that gently and happily)GPs should have it so they can get the most up to date treatments andtheories without having to bother their specialist friends. This is the BEST text I could ever hope to read! I am a nurse and a pet owner with cancer (and I was in crisis with "what to do" issues for my sweet cat). After reading it, I sent it to my colleagues and their response was identical to mine. Best features: compassionate care of pets with cancer; definitions of complex medical conditions/treatments in easy to understand terms; assistance with difficult decision-making from diagnosis to dealing with end of life issues; honoring the intense loving connection of humans to their companion pet family and much more. Professionals caring for humans should also use this text as a "model" for humane and compassionate care. You will cry, learn, feel supported and informed. You will want to give it to everyone you know.....I did.

This is a groundbreaking textbook, written in a breezy style so that pet owners and vets alike can read it and profit by her words.I am blown away!

This book is your standard size of most manga, not a tall book but a nice lengthy one.Really cute and captures the charm of the show. It is slightly offputting how short some of the stories are compared to their adaption to the anime but no complaints really.The print is a bit dark but all in all, a solid manga and worth it for fans.

My daughter liked everything about this manga book. She likes the show so it wasn't surprising that she would like this book. She said that it's funny and entertaining and would like to purchase the other volumes.

It is very cute and detailed. I already had the Japanese version of volume 1 and it is a great replica of its quality. I love Umaru-chan!

This was a great read! The book felt very lengthy, which is great considering its size. I enjoyed seeing the different art style and the series is just as good as I remember.

Onii-chan had to work late and TOTALLY forgot to get me the latest copy of Young Jump. So I rolled around on the floor and cried until he gave me this. I'm not familiar with this "Umaru", but she seems pretty great. I think we would get along well.

Gift for my daughter, apparently she liked it.

Funny story about a funny girl.

I enjoyed watching the anime, but when I heard it’s manga was coming out with own copy I didn’t hesitate. I would recommend this manga and the anime too.

I am a custom carpenter in Metro Detroit, and have a large library of carpentry / trimwork detail books. I mostly use these books for discovering my customer's style and for generating ideas for their projects. This book is by far one of my 2 most referenced books in my library. It makes nearly every trip I make to a new customer's home. It contains great photographs of very nice architectual details. I highly recommend it, and will soon be buying my second, and possibly third, copy.

Note: I'm coming at this from a professional perspective.I don't mind if only one or 2 pictures in a book are useful. This book distinguished itself by by having none. Literally not one picture of good architectural trim. The accompanying text was equally bad, though I guess not entirely useless if you knew literally nothing about house styles.Many of the examples were actually wrong. Probably the majority. The book should have been entitled "how to make garbage looking trim out of what is lying around your local orange box store". If you've always dreamed of incorporating cheap fake colonial casing into a built up crown moulding, this is the book for you.No mention of the orders, etc. etc. etc. Basically, not up to wikipedia. There are far better books. I paid 1 cent plus shipping, thankfully, but way overpaid. I'll keep almost any book in my design library - I have hundreds - but this is going to goodwill. Or the recycling bin, actually, so no one accidentally uses it as a resource.Its basically "Interior Trim for Vinyl Siding Houses"

This book provides not only good ideas but "how to" as well. It is an impressive collection of interior photographs illustrating examples of architectural details use in a range of styles from formal to casual and period to eclectic. It is entertaining as well as informative--a good read!

I had checked this book out of the library, so when I saw it online I had to have. It was delivered promptly and in good condition.

This book is very helpful for those who are interested in those little details that really make a room different.

Even though there is more trim work shown, it is not harder, adding simple layers can make the trim look more complicated

I was thrilled to find this book as I had bought the green 12 step prayer book over 2 1/2 yrs. ago and as I have read it almost every morning, it is starting to show wear. The prayer starts my day out on the right foot. The prayers are not targeted to any specific religion - they are spiritual prayers and although they are targeted to the 12 step program, whether or not you belong to a 12 step group they are just a good way of living ones life. I gave this edition a 4 instead of a 5 only because I have the green edition, which is similar but has the date of the year and a corresponding prayer number to read for that day. Not only did I start my day out with a positive thought from the reading but I also knew what day it was! I highly recommend getting both books which Amazon does have but I still prefer the green one to the burgundy one. The burgundy book picks up with prayer #184 which is where the green book ends on #193.

Great addition to my collection. Still will use the green one as my go to tho (as I have 3 of them and it feels more traditional). Otherwise great for new options.

I so enjoy this prayer book. It is a book of prayers. Daily prayers, step prayers, nighly prayers. REcommend this for anyone in recovery or even not in recovery.

Such a great addition to the first book and now there are prayers for every day of the year. Both of these books (vol 1 & 2) are such a fantastic way to continue recovery everyday and to remember it takes one day at a time!
