About the Author
  Christopher Cirillo, a native of Mobile, Alabama, and longtime resident of Biloxi, Mississippi, has traveled extensively throughout the Bahamas and Caribbean and has lived in Europe where we worked as a journalist and photographer. Cirillo has written for The Sea Coast Echo, The Sun Herald and Southern Voice newspapers.   A certified diver since age 14, his love for the sea converged with public safety when Cirillo earned his paramedic license more than 20 years ago. In addition to writing and travel, Cirillo has served as an emergency medical services (EMS) administrator since 1994. He has commanded emergency response personnel on the Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas coasts during Hurricane Katrina and many other disasters.   Cirillo, a member of the North American Travel Journalists Association, lives with his family on Florida's beautiful Emerald Coast.Â

Wonderful book to read before traveling to the Bahamas. Thanks to the author!!
As a property owner and visitor to the area for many years, I found this Spanish Wells book an excellent guide filled with interesting knowledge about this beautiful island paradise. I highly recommend this book for tourists visiting the Spanish Wells - Russell Island, Eleuthera area. The book is easy and entertaining to read, and is comprehensive in providing information about the culture and history, as well as transportation, places to visit, restaurants, stores, and more. The author, Christopher Cirillo, did an excellent job in capturing the essence of Spanish Wells and the locals that live there.
Having recently purchased a home on this beautiful,peaceful Island I enjoyed this book. Wish there were more color pictures showing the beauty and charm. We need to keep this charming Island a secret though!!Enjoyed reading about the local residents.

This book is a must read before you decide to go. It is current and up to date and exactly as you will find Spanish Wells to be. You will either love it here or be bored out of your mind. If you need action, stay away, Paradise Island will make you happier! We have been visiting this unique paradise for many years and just purchased our dream lot for a home for our retirement years. Have made many friends over the years and hope to make many more. The people are as beautiful as the island they hold so dear to their hearts. Rent an ocean front house and take quiet walks on a beautiful two mile beach every morning, have some sun and rum in the afternoons and end the day with fresh fish or lobster (caught by local fisherman) on your own grill, and of course more rum! Simple pleasures. No gourmet restaurants, but who needs them with all of the delicious cracked conch, conch fritters, fresh conch salad and conch chowder, all island specialties.) And don't miss Kathy's Bakery and all of her yummy homemade breads, johnny cakes and sweets! On Sunday, churches to attend to give thanks for being given another day in this heavenly place.
Well written book. Appreciated the candor and openness of the authors comments. Hopefully it has prepared us for our upcoming trip. Very little is available on line about this island and those who live there. Glad I purchased the book and looking forward to this hidden treasure in the Bahamas.
Planning a visit in March 2016 and this is chuck full of good material!
We'll be visiting Spanish Wells in January and this book is just what I was looking for and actually more than I expected. Fabulous! Can't wait for the trip!
