If the Royals are your favorite team, well, this is one you have to read. If you are a general baseball fan, you'll probably find yourself bored with the excessive amount of focus on 1985. Granted, that is the only year the Royals won the World Series, but it felt like 35-40% of this book dealt with that one season. Perhaps it needs to be updated -- post-haste -- to include "must know's" from the surprising season that the Royals put together in 2014. I'd say this book would be more like a "Greatest Hits" compilation of Bowling For Soup songs -- mostly a one hit wonder and overly focused on 1985. I actually found better history about the Royals in Filip Bondy's new book "The Pine Tar Game." That book was focused on ONE GAME but covered a lot of the history of the Royals that lead up to the infamous 1983 George Brett homer in Yankee stadium. Maybe the Royals will do readers a favor and win it all in 2015 -- just so this book can include more coverage of Royal (baseball) events since the original "Back to the Future" came out.
i grew up as an A's fan before charlie took them to oakland and have been a royals fan since 1969........this book contains insider information that you will only learn by reading this book.......it is incredible.........a must read for royals fans........everybody from the "good old days" was interviwed and quoted in this book......this would make the perfect X-mas gift...........thats the reason i ordered 4 of them to go with the one i read.........buy it.............
I bought this for my wife who is a huge Royal's fan. She really likes it. The only problem is that now I am hearing "did you know ......" LOL!
