This is a must have pocket guide! If you don't want to buy the 3 volume set then this is for you. It has everything you need for x ray school. There are pictures for all projections and it also has a space for you to write in techniques that work for you. I am currently a student in x ray school but plan on keeping this with me when I become a registered tech. I see registered techs that still carry their book in their pants pocket because it is super useful. This is a purchase I wish I would have made earlier instead of buying the 3 volume set.
This was a valuable purchase and a constant guide to assist in producing the best quality images in a safe and efficient manner. The only reason I didn't give it 5 starts is the tabs are not as sturdy as I would have liked, they bend easily and do not hold up well to the daily use. However, this could also be due to the crappy packaging the item was shipped in. There was NO bubble wrap or any protective wrapping around the book, the envelope had some thin protective packing- not nearly enough for the rough mail delivery.However, despite the poor packaging, the book is very thorough and conscise, it covers pretty much all the major imaging positions a tech would encounter- a must have tool for any X-ray tech.
You cannot skip this book, it is so key and so useful to bring along to clinical sites and study. If it slips your mind what angles you need or positions for facial bones or other more detailed views, this book has your back! Buy it!!
This is awesome!!! I bought this knowing that it’s not mandatory, but will be helpful in my lab class and clinical site. It really was!!! Had my first lab last week and used it as a guide. I also have the big heavy book, but didn’t want to bring that. Great for reviewing too. I love how small and light it is. Really great to have!!
This is the PERFECT small guide for quick access to exam info. I used it heavily throughout my schooling and clinical but still keep it with me for work in the field just in case I get those not-so-common-anymore orders.
As a current first year student of Radiographic Technology, I find this pocket guide essential. The first year is comprised of memorizing tons of concepts and positions so, as the year progresses, some of the positions discussed in the beginning get a little fuzzy. I know that there are iPhone and Android apps that serve a similar purpose, but most hospital environments frown on students glancing at their phones or iPods, as it is considered unprofessional. Plus, nothing beats a quick paper reference that you are able to jot down notes about technique (kVp, mAs, SID, etc). A perfect companion to Merrill's Atlas of Radiologic Anatomy.
Thank goodness for this book! I had been out of clinic for a few years and decided to go back. This book has saved my butt a few times when I'm trying to recall how to do oblique ribs or the random sinus x-ray. Simple to use as a quick guide and easy to carry around.
Okay people, listen up...I had the Bontrager pocket guide in x-ray school and for about a year after I graduated. I lost that book and then tried this one. I LOVE it compared to the other one. The set up on each page is simpler to look at and comprehend on the fly. If given the choice, I would get this again over Bontrager. I have been a tech for over 5 years now but I use this book for the exams I don't do very often, like skull work. It is really helpful and easy to access the page you need from the tabs.
