A nice, clean story that I enjoyed. Good main characters each with their own challenges. Lots of family on Jessie's side and a town where at least half was probably a relative. Now compare that to Peter's lifestyle of almost no one. Yes, he had a mother and father but they were so busy with their professional lives and always had been. He had grown up with nannies and boarding school and work. Imagine his surprise when he meets Jake? He has almost nothing to go on about being a father. And mess up he does, which makes the story more real.He did have two close friends Scott and his wife, Karen. Those two added another element to the story on their own.Jessie is a good woman with such a compassionate heart and is an exceptional mother. Her son, Jake is one happy little boy. I enjoyed his "conversations" with people. Smile-worthy and believable.Jessie is holding an unhappy secret from others; the emotions were well written. There were good, likable secondary characters in the book. That included Jessie's parents, her spunky best friend Maggie to name a few.I also liked how God was woven into the book; not preachy but there none the less. Even when people were having a crisis of belief at times.

Excellent novel, this was a new author for me and I enjoyed her work.Thoroughly developed characters, story line was unique and well thought out. Sometimes when the story is complex as this one, the ending is rushed and left unfinished; however, Ms. Voss made sure to satisfy her readers from the very beginning until the very end.I completed this novel in one day, could not put it down!

I would recommend this story to anyone who doesn't think they deserve to be happy and in this wonderful story you will understand why. Also coming to believe in God can bring you what you didn't think you could ever have. It's a good clean book. Thanks Carol Voss.

Jessie was in a car accident and because of it is unable to have kids. Right after that she lost her fiancée because couldn't deal with it, and she didn't tell anyone else but her twin. Her sister was pregnant with Jake and was more interested in her research. So Jessie adopted him. Her sister died in a fire at her lab. At the one year anniversary they gave a scholarship to a student from their high school. Peter came as the representative to give it. Little did he know he would be meeting his son. Its a beautiful story.

Jessie Chandler was in a very bad auto accident & was hurt, was in the hospital for a long & P/T. Â Only thing people noticed is she walks with a limp due her hip having been damaged. Â The driver Neil was her fiancee & he left feeling so guilty he caused the accident. While she's recovering her twin Clarrissa comes home & she's pregnant. She told her the father didn't want anything to with a child.Jessie adopted Jake. Â And not long after Clarrissa left for NYC, she was in her lab trying to work on her project that might help cure people. Â The lab caught on fire and she died trying to save her notes.Jake is now 3 yrs. old. Â In honor of Clarrissa a scholarship was set up. Â They asked Dr. Peter Sheridan, former colleague, to come to speak and announce who won, at the high school graduation.Once he stepped up on to the stage, Jessie lower jaw dropped as she felt he looked so much like Jake. Â They both have a cleft chin with a birth mark.Jessie speaks with her lawyer who handled the adoption papers. Â He felt it would be better for her work with Peter rather then go to court.Peter didn't know he had a son, Clarrissa never told him she was pregnant. Â After a DNA test confirmed he is Jake's father, Jessie tries help teach him how to be a parent. Â Jake calls him Pedo an he's a very active toddler. There is so much more to this story you need to read this book. Will Jessie ever admit & realize she loves Peter? It will not take long to read this book. Â Enjoy!

I love a story with complex characters facing life with honest, realistic emotions. Jessie Chandler is raising her twin sisters child in Noah's Crossing with the support that only a small town in Wisconsin can offer. When a former colleague of her sister, Dr. Peter Sheridan arrives in town, his identity as the baby's father can't be denied. As research scientist, Peter has never had time for a relationship or children. Having adopted Jake, he is the center of Jessie's life. As Jessie and Peter navigate trying to jointly raise young Jake as well as their growing attraction to each other, they are required to face their past as well as their future. In this Christian novel, suitable for readers of any age, faith plays a definite part of the story, but is secondary to the story itself. This is the first Carol Voss book I have read and look forward to reading others.

No worries that this story is preachy. This story is based on each of us having flaws within us and asking our Father in Heaven to help us to be better people. The two main characters are Jessica (Jesse) Chandler and Peter Sheridan the father of her sister Clarissa's child Jake. Peter is a dedicated medical researcher who has lived his adult life in his lab. Jesse lives in a small community with her family and friends, who are supportive of her life as she brings up Jake, her 18 month old nephew. Messages of family support, love of a child, regret for things that can not be changed and a belief that through everything our Father in Heaven will be there helping any who ask.
