This is a really great intro origami book for kids and - actually - anyone who is starting out and wants to do some impressive folding. The paper in the back is great and the selection of designs is well thought out - some basic and some higher level. I got this for my nieces who were visiting and they ran through all the paper and had a ton of fun with it. Really a wonderful book.
A good selection of some fun origami projects. Above beginner level, though.
It would be a lot more helpful if the shapes didn’t change in complete in relation to the steps being discussed, without any explanation as to how you make it that different shape at a different angle (I.e. from a solid kite shape to a perfect diamond with a slit down the middle, like in the turtle). Boo! It could have been so great! The selection is lovely, the direction suck — and not in a “this chick doesn’t know enough about origami†way but in what looks like a “the author mixed up his directions and left out some steps†way.
